Industry leaders, farmers, innovators and researchers will come together to learn about the latest agri-tech and explore insights from renowned figureheads at REAP 2024.

Agri-TechE’s REAP Conference is taking place on 6 November at Newmarket Racecourse where delegates will hear about the potential applications of artificial intelligence to revolutionise agriculture during the keynote address by Dr Elliott Grant, former CEO of Mineral.

Leaders from John Deere, Bayer and Unilever will also discuss how supply chains can collaborate to deliver innovation to farmers. Phil Taylor, director of ecosystem development for crop science R&D, is representing Bayer.

He says as an industry, the past five years has been spent recognising the need to work together. “The next 10 years will be about how to make the whole system sustainable and self-supporting. To achieve this, we have to find new ways of partnering.”

“Across the world, there are global innovation hotspots. The Agri-TechE ecosystem is clearly one of them, where we see opportunities for Bayer to contribute and become part of the ecosystem.”

Emerging agri-tech panel

The conference also features three sessions which have become regular fixtures at REAP. For one, the emerging agri-tech panel, which helps to put research into practice. During this, scientists will share the progress of their farmer-focussed projects, which are often the seeds for the most exciting future innovations in the industry.

Chaired by Cambridgeshire farmer Tom Pearson, the session is also an opportunity to grill researchers about their work and its relevance to farmers. The panel’s purpose is to ensure agricultural research is driven by farmers, and for farmers to better understand the links between detailed research and its real-world applications.

Start-up showcase

Following this in the programme is the start-up showcase, which reveals Agri-TechE’s top eight picks for the future of farming. The line-up for this is revealed on the day.

Then to close, REAP 2024 will deliver a review of current farming practices with a line-up of leading farmers who will ground-truth concepts from the conference and share their views for the future.
