Corteva Agriscience has announced UK approval of Univoq – a new cereal fungicide containing Inatreq active. Charlotte Cunningham reports.
Univoq, which is now approved for sale and use in the UK, is a new fungicide that offers curative and protectant control on all septoria strains, supporting a long-term sustainable fungicide strategy on farms, says Corteva.
As the first new target site for septoria control registered in the UK for 15 years, its patented iQ-4 formulation is claimed to enable the fungicide to stick to and spread across the leaf.
The product will be available for sale in the UK in time for wheat T2 applications.
Inatreq active is already approved for use in cereals in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Republic of Ireland and Greece, with the registration process continuing across Europe and in other key cereal growing areas.
Major milestone
“The major strength of Univoq is its robust control of septoria – the number one disease threat and yield robber on UK arable farms,” said Michael Ashworth, cereal fungicides category marketing manager. “The introduction of Univoq to the UK is a major milestone for cereal growers who seek innovative new chemistry to protect their crops while meeting the challenges of sustainable management and responding to farmers’ desire for innovation.”
Michael adds that the Inatreq active molecule works differently than every other cereal fungicide available to farmers in the UK. “Over the past decade of development, it has demonstrated the ability to keep crops greener for longer, allowing plants to fulfil their yield potential.”
“Univoq delivers excellent length of protection, maintaining green leaf area and allowing the crop to build yield long after application. UK trials have also shown control of yellow and brown rust in line with existing market standards. It will be widely applied as a flag leaf spray at the T2 fungicide timing. In UK conditions, this approach has consistently delivered the greatest benefit to crop health.”
