Growers of Dekalb hybrid OSR varieties which fail to establish this autumn will be credited with £100/bag under the enhanced Establishment Scheme introduced by Bayer for 2020. Charlotte Cunningham reports.

Building on the initiative piloted last autumn, the 2020 scheme offered through participating distributors will compensate growers for any crops lost by 31 Oct.

Centred on Dekalb’s DK Exstar, the scheme will also extend to DK Extremus and DK Excited.

“All three of these varieties have the rapid autumn development character that helps them grow away from establishment challenges,” says Bayer campaign manager, Edward Hagues.

“And now they offer the additional assurance of a simple risk-sharing scheme should early flea beetle or other establishment pressures prove too intense.”

Participating distributors

To take advantage of scheme, all growers have to do is purchase their seed through one of Dekalb’s participating distributors and register at http://www.dekalb.co.uk

Distributor-validated claims for crops planted before 20 Sept failing to establish by the end of Oct will automatically be issued with £100/bag credit notes by 20 Nov.

“Together, our 2020 scheme and hybrid genetics provide growers with the best establishment support in the business so they can have the greatest confidence in continuing to grow OSR,” adds Edward.
